Climbing Competition for Kids

Boulder - Highwall - Speed

More kids are getting into climbing at a younger age, and they're progressing fast. But until now, there’s been a lack of competition opportunities tailored for our youngest climbers.

Mini Crusher 2025 is designed to fill that gap.

This is one of the only competitions in Singapore with dedicated categories for children aged 7 and under (U7) and aged 8 and under (U8), allowing them to compete with others closer to their age and ability. It’s also the only event that combines all three competition formats — Boulder, Top Rope, and Speed — in a single, fun and supportive experience.

Mini Crusher is ideal for young climbers with some experience who are ready to:

  • Gain confidence and build resilience
  • Enjoy a challenge in a safe and encouraging setting

Category

U7 Girl (7yo and under) - Born in 2018 and younger 


U7 Boy (7yo and under) - Born in 2018 and younger 


U8 Girl (8yo and under) - Born in 2017 and younger


U8 Boy (8yo and under) - Born in 2017 and younger

  • Participants will be ranked according to their age group and gender
  • If there are too few participants for Speed, Age group and/or Gender might be combined for a more meaningful competition.

Bouldering

  • Climbers will attempt 6 boulder routes in flash format
  • Single Round. No finals.
  • Top 8 individuals of each category will receive medal
  • Scoring will be based on latest IFSC points system 

High Wall (Autobelay)

  • Participants will climb 2 different routes with 1 attempt per route
  • Climbs will be done on Autobelay
  • Single Round. No finals.
  • Top 8 individuals of each category will receive medal and prizes
  • Scoring will be based on IFSC rules

Speed Climbing

Speed route

The speed competition will feature two identical routes set with Star holds — the same holds used in China for their youth speed competitions. The route has been specially designed to suit younger climbers and adapted to fit the shorter wall height, making it both accessible and exciting for our Mini Crusher participants.

Qualification round

  • Participants will have a practice climb followed by 2 qualification climbs, 1 on each of the speed wall 
  • The faster time recorded during the 2 qualification climbs will be used for ranking

Knockout round

  • If there are 16 or more participants in the category, the top 16 will advance to the knockout rounds.
  • If there are 8 or more but less than 16 participants, the top 8 will advance.
  • If there are 4 or more but less than 8 participants, the top 4 will advance.
  • If there are too few participants, Age group or Gender might be combined for a more meaningful competition.
  • Competitors will be matched up based on their qualification ranking
  • The faster climber of each race will proceed to the next round until we have a winner

Overall Winner

For each age group and gender, we will combine the result across all 3 events (boulder, highwall, speed) and crown the Overall Winners. The top 3 will receive a medal.

27th September, Saturday

  • Morning: Bouldering
  • Afternoon: Highwall (Autobelay)

28th September, Sunday

  • Speed Climbing (Using the yellow star speed route currently at Bendemeer)

    Participant Rewards


    All participants will receive a Mini Crusher participation pin as a keepsake.
    After each event, every child will receive a toy or snack as a reward for their effort.
    Participants who join all three events will be able to collect up to three toys or snacks—one after each event.


    Gear & Equipment

    • Rental harnesses are provided free of charge.

    • Climbing shoes are available for rent at $5.45 per pair. Participants are encouraged to bring their own shoes if possible.

    There are no height or weight restrictions for this competition. All children who meet the age category requirements are welcome to take part.
